AGE:10 PART.3. TRIP TO KINGSWOOD
That was a good 5 day school trip. I remember it like it was yesterday...
Year 6, and everyone just couldn't wait for the trip...It felt like we were waiting a lifetime for it to arrive... Finally our last big trip was here! Every year who ever was in year 6 would go on this trip! The 5 day trip usually costs 100 but because it was also our head teachers last year at the school before he retired we only paid 50 and that was for everything, the bus, the room, breakfast/lunch/dinner, activities, everything...
It was November and the weather was cold as per...but I couldn't give a sh*t because I was packing ready for the trip! I would be 5 days away from home without my dad and J.W. for the first time ever! I could finally breath outside that house and it was going to be great!! I packed everything that they said to bring like all the bathroom essentials, swimming cozy, big warm coat, and generally clothes that you wouldn't mind getting mucked up in....thank god I was such a tom-boy back then! Most of you that know me, I bet you could even imagine me playing in mud and climbing up trees!😅
So as I got on the bus and got settled...J.W. came on the bus to say goodbye and of course to take pics...She cried as she was saying goodbye, the little softy bless her...in the end though I had to tell the teacher to get her off otherwise we'll never leave lol😂...Then I sat by the window and waved goodbye...👋
I can't remember much of what happened on the bus on the way there, I do know I was sitting to my best school mate K.M....I be perfectly honest I think I fell asleep most of the way... But I do remember that one of my other friends threw up on her bestie...oops 😰
When we finally arrived at Camp Beaumont or in other words Kingswood, I was so excited we were split into groups for our rooms...The boys were downstairs and the girls upstairs. We all had bunk-beds in our rooms. My bunk-bed buddy would be K.M. of course, she got top and I got bottom...We shared the room with our other friends as well, it was great. We kept our suitcases under the beds and unpacked just in case of an emergency...
While we were settling in and making our beds, I had finished and made a little sign to go on top of the coat rack for when people were to enter or leave as a little reminder...it said "There's No Such Word As Can't, You Can Do It If You Try!" that was and is still my favorite moto, J.W. always told me that and it really stuck...
During the first day we were shown around the building and that...and then it was full on activities not stop! During the 5 days that we were there we did all sorts of games and activities like swimming, climbing then jumping off, we even played sardines but it was well cooler then the normal game...we played it in a dark underground tunnel it was so scary but exciting at the same time! We all had to stand in the underground tunnel facing the wall while one of us was picked to go hide...then when we all turned round we had to sus-out who was gone...and then we all went our separate ways in the tunnel searching for the missing person...IT WAS AWESOME!!, we also had camp fires and told stories, it was really great...The day finally arrived when we had to leave...It was sad it had to end so soon, but we would have great memories of the place. The bus drive back was pretty much the same going, but this time nobody threw up on anyone...they just threw up on the floor of the bus just before we were about to arrive back at the school...That smelt bad, kinda like rotten f*cking fish🤢🤮
It was nice to be back home I kinda missed it after all...But who knew that things were going to get interesting and life changing...
